Served helps churches working in communities suffering trauma as a result of armed conflict, who lack the resources to access available services, by promoting a strengthened relationship between church, education services and the wider community.

My entire career has been given to seeing the local church encouraged, strengthened, and equipped. I have felt drawn to this aspect of SERVED. Recently however, because of events and changes in the makeup of our own family, we have felt the burden of children at risk and the incredible lack of practical, effectual help they receive as they attempt to navigate devastating life situations. SERVED provides us an opportunity to do something about both of those interests in very real and practical ways.
I believe in informed and contextualised programming. Research is a vital part of any strategy that seeks to truly serve the needs of a community. As a researcher, Served's commitment to participatory research that seeks to learn with communities is highly commendable. I bring my knowledge of international humanitarian assistance as well as my research background in the work of local faith communities to this position. We must ensure that our youngest generation can access high quality education. I am pleased to be able to contribute to Served's work in this area.
In many of the places where I've worked, I have managed or advised on the monitoring and evaluation of projects. I believe in community-led assessment and monitoring processes, as well as the principle of 'subsidiarity', a term I take from Catholic Social Teaching, which says that to the extent possible, decisions should always be made by the people most affected by those decisions. Belief in the role that humanitarian work can build inter-communal bridges attracts me to SERVED. In particular education work helps lay the foundation for building (or re- building) a tolerant and mutually-encouraging society in which diverse people work together to build something great.
Growing up in Egypt and working in the business field, I’ve seen our region's desperate need for quality education and its impact in the future of our children, not only in their jobs but also in the development of the ones surrounding them. SERVED is making access to quality education possible to marginalized children through the empowerment of local communities. I believe quality education is the number one need in our region with its full potential of cascading positive impact on every other development goal.
SERVED’s Mission attracted my heart and I am pleased to be bringing my skills in business and project management to play a part on helping local churches and schools serve through education the ones needing the most.
For as long as I can remember, my desire has been to be an educator. For over 30 years I have had the privilege of fulfilling that desire. From Pre-K to University age students, my passion is teaching. Not merely curriculum, but teaching individuals about themselves and how to navigate their way through life with others around them. As an instructional/life coach, I have the privilege and opportunity to help others recognize and grow their unique gifting in whatever capacity that may look like. Partnering with local churches to develop schools for children in crisis, developing capacity in local facilitators and teachers as well as coaching members of the education team honor my strengths and is what excited me about joining the team at SERVED.
